Bio

Elyse is dedicated to optimizing athlete success while prioritizing their well-being. With a multifaceted background as a competitive athlete, coach, personal trainer, and Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC), Elyse brings a holistic approach to her practice. Her dedication to the field is evident through her work with athletes at various levels and her ongoing research into contemporary issues affecting sports. Drawing from her diverse experiences, Elyse crafts tailored programs that align with each athlete’s unique needs and goals. Elyse’s deep passion for sport drives her to recognize and address the distinct demands placed on athletes in various disciplines.

Her counseling philosophy centers on the concept of embodiment, which integrates psychological and physiological elements. Elyse emphasizes the vital role of the body in shaping an athlete's interaction with their sport and acknowledges that consciousness is always engaged, even in subconscious ways. This philosophy integrates psychological and physiological elements, recognizing that the body’s experiences and sensations play a crucial role in an athlete’s performance and mindset. Elyse believes that true performance enhancement involves more than just mental strategies—it requires a harmonious connection between the mind and body. By embracing this holistic perspective, Elyse helps athletes build resilience, self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of their own performance dynamics.

Elyse’s extensive experience includes work with prominent institutions and a diverse range of athletes. She has collaborated with Brock University’s varsity teams, the Niagara Tennis Academy, and individual athletes ranging from grassroots to international competition. She also contributes as a Mental Performance Consultant with Cheer Canada's Sport Psych team, addressing the unique challenges to this demanding sport. Additionally, her position as a Part-Time Coach in the University of Toronto’s Fitness and Performance Department allows her to integrate sport psychology principles into coaching practices, enhancing the overall development of athletes.

Elyse’s contributions extend beyond individual consultations and team support. Her PhD research delves into the impact of social media on athletes and coaches, exploring how digital platforms influence performance, identity, and interpersonal dynamics. This research is particularly relevant in today’s digital age, where social media plays a significant role in the sports landscape.
