Mark your calendars! On Friday, May 2nd, from 12-2 PM MST/11 AM-1 PM PT, the Alberta and British Columbia regions are hosting an exciting virtual Student-led CSPA Mini-Conference.
We will learn from four wonderful presenters who will share about their current research and participants will have the opportunity to discuss questions prompted by the findings.
Topics covered will include:

Elise Lacoste, PhD Candidate at the University of Calgary and CMPC, will present current research being conducted at the University of Calgary in developing and implementing a mental performance and mental health program for Canadian varsity student-athletes and their coaches. This presentation will cover the development of the program and the early findings of the implementation of the program.

Angie Fan, MHK from the University of Ottawa and Provisional MPC, will share an examination of whether prosocial behaviour, a previously unconsidered approach, may be associated with well-being during the first year of collegiate sport retirement. Applied implications and potential applications will be explored to discuss how athletic and personal communities can be improved with kindness and generosity.

Kyle Bergh, MHK from the University of Ottawa, will explore student athletes’ attitudes and perceptions of concussion assessment tools, and
share about how they perceived the concussion experience.

Sarah Linsday, PhD Candidate, will explore the relationship between physical activity levels and self-efficacy for activities of daily living in individuals with spinal cord injuries. In addition, she will conduct future research into the effect that accessible physical activity may have on people with neurological injuries, both psychologically and cognitively.
