The goal of this webinar is to highlight the research and applications of team dynamics in high performance sport. This professional development opportunity will showcase the perspective of three different roles in sport performance that integrate team dynamic principles in their respective programs. The presenters will share their insights on how they use their skills to create environments which allow individuals and teams to flourish.


This webinar will include contributions from a mental performance consultant in a national team environment, a coach in a national team environment, and an associate professor conducting academic research in teamwork. A five slides in ten minutes format will highlight the different context and nuance that is considered in each role. There will be opportunities for questions and discussion with each presenter. CSPA members will gain insight to the role that team dynamics has in the different perspectives of sport performance.


This webinar will include insights from Steve Baur (Assistant Coach at Canada Basketball), Christie Gialloreto (MPC at Canadian Sport Institute - Pacific), and Dr. Desmond McEwan (Department for Health, University of Bath). More about our presenters:


Steve Baur: Steve has been an Assistant Coach with Canada Basketball’s Senior Women’s Team since 2014. Steve has also represented Canada as the Head Coach of our Pan Am and Commonwealth Games teams. Before joining Canada Basketball, Baur spent six seasons as the Head Coach of Acadia University's men's program and helped guide them to four appearances at the CIS Men's Basketball Final 8 Championship. During his time with the Axemen, Baur also led the team to an Atlantic University Sport (AUS) championship in 2012 and was named AUS Coach of the Year the following season.
