Applied Sport Psychology Continuing Education Opportunity in Abbotsford, BC
The BC region of the Canadian Sport Psychology Association (CSPA) will be hosting a 1-day conference featuring three workshops on topics related to the practice of sport psychology on Saturday May 6th, 2017, at the University of the Fraser Valley Abbotsford campus. The day will run from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm.
The title for the conference is: Expanding Sport Psychology Practice. The day will aim to explore three topical issues faced by practitioners adopting sport psychology tenants. Led by expert speakers, participants will gain practical and experiential knowledge in each of the following areas: 1) the business side of running a sport psychology practice, 2) engaging your professional skills in alternative non-sport environments, as well as 3) inspired action from the sharing of mental training activities used by colleagues.
Workshop 1: Three Perspectives on the Business of the Practice of Sport Psychology

This workshop features the lessons learned by three sport psychology professionals as each launched a successful and personally meaningful career. They will explore what consulting looks like in a range of contexts, how each has shaped their practice to best fit who they are, and the common pitfalls and barriers experienced on their professional journey. The speakers will also share key resources that have shaped and continue to shape growth and development both personally and professionally.
