Jean Fournier, PhD

Biography: Jean Fournier is an associate professor at the University of Paris West, France. He has consulted in mental training with Olympic athletes and coaches at the French Institute of Sports, Paris, and with the French Golf Federation. He has served as the director of sport sciences at the National Institute of Sport in Montréal, Canada. His research has focused on mental training, imagery, attention, and mindfulness. He served as the Co-Editor of the International Journal of Sport Psychology for 10 years.

Biography: Andrew recently completed his PhD at the University of Wolverhampton in England, specializing in sports psychology and emotion regulation. He holds a Masters of Arts in Kinesiology (University of Ottawa) and a Bachelor of Arts (University of Winnipeg) in psychology and kinesiology & applied health. During his PhD, he was a member of the Emotion Regulation of Others and Self-research group (erosresearch.org) examining interpersonal emotion regulation within sports teams.

 

Before coming back to Wolverhampton for a postdoctoral research fellowship, Andrew worked at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. His current research interests include emotion regulation, group dynamics, and professional practice in applied sports psychology. Andrew is also an applied sports psychology practitioner having worked with professional and amateur elite athletes for over 12 years.
