Biography:
Derek Robinson, M.Ed., is a registered psychologist and has worked/consulted as a mental performance consultant with the Canadian Sport Institute Calgary since 2003. He has worked with many professional, Olympic, National, and development teams and worked the last 4 Olympic Winter Games (2018, 2014, 2010, 2006). The opportunity to work with Speed Skating Canada, Alpine Canada, Hockey Canada, Ski Cross Canada, Red Deer Rebels (WHL), and many other sports. has greatly contributed to his knowledge, expertise and understanding of what it takes to win at the elite level.
Derek played hockey in the BCJHL and at the University of Lethbridge (CIAU), later conducting his Graduate research focusing on Junior “A” Hockey.
Derek strongly believes in the value of the right mindset, specific mental preparation, execution and debriefing habits. As well as the importance of team, continuous learning, distraction control, and purposeful simulation to best prepare elite athletes to perform on demand.
